What is BeRoTracker?

BeRoTracker is a keyboard-driven music tracker for Linux, Windows and macOS, developed by Benjamin Rosseaux since 1999.

BeRoTracker is a music tracker for Windows, Linux and macOS that combines an Impulse Tracker-inspired, keyboard-driven workflow with modern production features. It supports up to 256 channels and lets musicians combine samples, plugin instruments and OPL3 FM synthesis within the same song.

Its editing tools include a sample editor, instrument envelopes, dedicated drum patterns and a pattern matrix for reusing individual channel patterns across a composition. A modular routing editor connects instruments and effects, while VST2, VST3 and CLAP support expands its sound palette. MIDI features enable file import and export, controller automation and playback through external instruments.

For retro music enthusiasts, BeRoTracker offers extensive AdLib format importing, converting supported music into editable patterns and OPL3 instruments. It loads classic module formats and saves songs as MOD, S3M, XM or IT within their respective limitations. Its native BRT format preserves the full feature set.

The macOS version requires Apple Silicon and macOS 11 or newer.

Besides its native BRT format it loads and saves MOD, S3M, XM and IT, and imports 42 AdLib formats (including A2M, RAD, HSC, D00, CMF, ROL, IMF and DRO) as well as 17 AdLib instrument and bank formats. It is portable and free to download.
